I studied Oceanography with Chemistry, including number of mathematical units, at Southampton University. I worked in research for a number of years and started tutoring students with difficulty in mathematics. Eventually, I realised I enjoyed teaching so much that I began my own tutoring business. In the end I had over 20 clients. I was also contacted by a teacher whose son I tutored to try a position teaching in the school where the math teacher was on sick leave. Through a PGCE with the university of Sundeland, I became a class room teacher. I have worked in international schools for most of my teaching career. In that time I became head of mathematics, taught keystages 3 -5. I also developed the AS and A level programme for one school in Kuwait. I moved to East Germany for a while and worked with the German Red Cross while I improved my German fluency. Then I got a position teaching the Sekondar Stufe 1 for three years. I am now teaching at the International School of Westpfalz in Landstuhl in West Germany. I have had the position for three years. I have much experience helping learners to overcome their difficulties in Mathematics. This has included learners from varying levels of English, learners that have started with a weak background in mathematics, those who have fallen behind or lacked motivation.
