Felipe

I am a PhD student from the Crop Science Department at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have experience in quantitative and qualitative research in both social and natural science. I received a BA in Political Science from the University of San Andrés. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a research assistant in an urban redevelopment project with a team from the University of California, Santa Cruz. My role in the project was to coordinate, perform and transcribe interviews to urban residents in Buenos Aires to understand their perceptions and attitudes regarding different urban redevelopment projects that could affect their livelihoods. I also worked as a teaching assistant in a course on public policy, where I introduced students to different research methods in public policy analysis. Currently, I am finishing my doctoral thesis in crop science, which focuses on understanding the tradeoffs that exist between the economic and environmental performance of agroecosystems in Argentina. For this, I work with crop simulation models, optimization algorithms and other computer software to design cropping system alternatives that can provide sufficient food production without compromising the land’s environmental welfare. In this project, I also work closely with farmers to understand the willingness to adopt new technologies and production methods to adapt the way in which we produce food.

As a passionate and driven PhD student in Agricultural Science, I am committed to finding sustainable solutions to pressing global issues. With a strong foundation in research and experience as a teaching assistant in subjects such as public policy and crop production, I have honed my skills in communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. I have also had the opportunity to work as a research assistant on projects related to political determinants of violence and urban redevelopment, and have published peer-reviewed articles. My current doctoral thesis focuses on the balance between economic and environmental performance in agroecosystems, a topic I am deeply passionate about. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have received numerous scholarships and awards, including a prestigious doctoral scholarship from the CONICET. I have also served as a co-advisor on an undergraduate thesis in Computer Science and have experience with R and Python programming languages for Data Science.
