Hi there, my name is Shona. I am 20 years old and from South Africa. I finished high school in 2021 with a matric distinction (4A's 2B's and 1C). I finished high school as one of the top 10 academic students in my grade. This year I completed my TEFL course and am looking to kickstart my career by teaching online. So although I have no professional experience yet, I look forward to seeing where it all begins.

Hello, my name is Shona. I am 20 years old and from Cape Town South Africa. As someone who really struggled in school, I am here to offer help to students in any way I can. I believe it is important to get the work done but further ensure that the learner feels safe, comfortable to express themselves, and free to ask questions as many times as they need. There is no such thing as a dumb question. My goal is to help students feel secure in their knowledge and go into an exam/school feeling confident and eager to learn. Since I have just completed my TEFL course, I actually have no paid professional experience, but I can say that helping my little sisters through their homework on weekdays is definitely one way to get experience, unfortunately, that won't pay the bills. My main issue in school was failing tests due to anxiety and a lack of confidence in my knowledge. I like to work through the school curriculum in a way that suits each individual. Everyone learns differently and ultimately that is what must be explored before we get stuck in the grind. I hope to create a light-hearted and friendly space that allows people to make mistakes or even fail so that we can move forward and achieve one's goals. If we can work hard together and co-operate with what needs to be done, there is no doubt we will succeed and achieve academic success.
